Bolivia Map and Facts

Here's some fast facts from Lonely Planet about our second country on our voyage, Bolivia.

Area: 1,098,580 sq km (France & Spain combined)
Population (2003 estimate): 8.8 million

Capitals: Sucre (constituional), La Paz (de facto)

Time: Same time zone as New York

Money: US$1 = $7.70 bolivianos
Costs: 650ml bottle of domestic beer = US$1; 1 medium meat pizza = $4.50
Misc: Landlocked by 5 countries; country of superlatives - the hemisphere's highest, most isolated and most rugged nation; poorest country in S. America, richest in terms of natural resources
As we only have 7 weeks now left to explore 4 more countries, we are probably going to breeze through Bolivia hitting just the highlights, making our way down from Copacabana on Lake Titicaca to La Paz, and then going straight to the Salt Flats at Salar de Uyini. We would also like to visit Bolivia's Wild West of Tupiza, which is the setting for the demise of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid just before heading south into Argentina.
